In the course of regular business activities, you will inevitably have to change your approach, backtrack with a client, or scrap an idea. Sometimes, it’s clear that something just isn’t working. Something needs to change. When that happens, you want your team to roll with it. The employees who stand out in these situations are those who can improvise, suggest alternatives, and chart another path.

Of course, many of us don’t adapt well to change. We become fixated on our design or solution. We refuse to kill our darlings. New data may invalidate the document we just completed and we need to start fresh. Many people become discouraged by this, but adaptability is a mindset and anyone can learn how to do it.
